Open IKM

Open IKM is a programme that supports those wishing to realise an interesting event or activity for the Gdansk community. Offering financial, substantive, premises and technical assistance, the programme bridges the gap between an idea and its realisation. The project is open to adult residents of Gdansk and the metropolis, including activists, cultural animators, smaller NGOs and informal groups.

How do we operate?

Each year, we announce two open calls for applications, from which we select activities to be implemented. Projects can be submitted by adults from Gdańsk and its vicinity - as individuals, organisations or informal groups.

The programme does not impose the form of co-realised activities - it is possible to apply for e.g. a workshop, a show, a debate, an author's meeting, a performance, etc. However, it is important that the formula of the event takes into account the possibilities of the premises of the Institute of Urban Culture where the projects are carried out. The subject matter of the submitted events is also open. So far, the programme has implemented various types of artistic, handicraft, film, photographic, ecological, literary, urban and nature-related activities.

From among the submitted applications, we select those that are implemented in the given edition of the Open IKM. In the process of realising the projects, we offer the substantive support of the interdisciplinary team of the Institute of Urban Culture, financial support (usually in the amount of up to PLN 4,000) and technical support. We co-implement the activities at the IKM headquarters at 11 Targ Rakowy, choosing the most suitable space for them.

Organisers and organisers promote their event according to the promotion plan specified in the application. As a programme, OIKM offers additional support in the form of promotional and graphic workshops, publication of the event on the IKM website and the possibility to display a promotional flyer and graphics at the IKM headquarters.
