At the IKM’s new headquarters, we gain a new space for development, cultural engagement, meetings and the presentation of new initiatives.
From the pumping station to the institution
We work for and with the inhabitants of the districts of Gdańsk. We are an open cultural institution where you can come regularly for thematic lectures, film series, chamber concerts and training sessions.
We organise festivals (art in public space, literary), urban actions and guided walks, conduct research in the Cultural Observatory and publish books. We are interested in an open culture, connected to Gdansk and its districts, accessible to the inhabitants and co-created with them.
The Institute of Urban Culture is an institution that has been working for several years close to the inhabitants and residents of Gdańsk. It proposes events that explore the city through art, literature, social action and activities in the urban space. Streetwaves, NARRACJE or Local Guides show the potential of many neighbourhoods and strong local communities that actively build culture in Gdansk. In IKM's new headquarters - in the Water Craft building at 11 Targ Rakowy Street - we gain a new space for development, cultural participation, meetings and the presentation of new initiatives.

Bookshop
Triki Tashka is the youngest bookshop in Gdansk - a place where love of literature meets warmth and peace. We welcome not only lovers of the city, but all those who are fascinated by culture, art and the written word.
Cinema
Stories told with light and sound. In the centre of the city of Gdańsk, we present a repertoire for children, young people and adult audiences. We are creating a space of film culture to which we invite all those wishing to go on an adventure with documentary, feature, animated and family cinema.
The IKM Cinema is part of the Art-House Cinema Network.
Model of Gdańsk
Thousands of buildings, streets and elements of nature remaining in the area delimited by the city's modern fortifications - all of this can be found on an extraordinary mock-up that awaits visitors at the Waterworks. Combining 3D models with multimedia elements, the model is the largest of its kind in Poland. Learn about the spatial layout of today's Gdańsk and how the city has transformed over the centuries!
